How Worldbox Built an AI-Powered Data Distribution Channel with AllCloud on AWS Marketplace

Customer Stories

Worldbox, a Swiss business intelligence company, provides verified data on over 400 million businesses worldwide for risk, compliance, and financial analysis. Together with AllCloud, it built a secure, two-tiered AI-enabled data distribution model on AWS Marketplace, enabling customers to discover, evaluate, and purchase data more efficiently in real time through micro-transactions— delivering data up to 70% faster time to value.

  • From API delivery to AI-native consumption: Worldbox shifted from request-based data access to an intelligent, on-demand model where AI agents can explore and evaluate data before initiating micro-transactions.
  • Turning data into a scalable product: By leveraging AWS Marketplace, Worldbox transformed its dataset into a globally accessible, consumption-based offering. The introduction of a two-tier model creates new monetization opportunities aligned with AI-driven demand.
  • Balancing accessibility with control: The MCP server model and supporting authentication protocols enable secure, governed interaction between AI agents and data — ensuring protection without limiting usability.
  • Laying the foundation for agentic AI workflows: The solution positions Worldbox to evolve toward fully autonomous, multi-agent business processes in the future.

Worldbox, a Swiss business intelligence provider, manages a high-value dataset covering over 400 million companies worldwide, supporting critical use cases such as risk assessment, compliance, and financial analysis.

As AI began to reshape how data is accessed and consumed, Worldbox partnered with AllCloud to rethink its delivery model. Together, they designed and built an AI-enabled, consumption-based data distribution platform on AWS Marketplace, allowing customers — and AI agents — to search, evaluate, and purchase data in real time.

The result: significantly faster time to value, improved discoverability, and a scalable new revenue channel.

Additionally, collaboration with the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center helped bring this experience to life by enabling a seamless path to production.

Worldbox is a global provider of business intelligence and technology solutions, delivering reliable and often hard-to-access company data for risk assessment, due diligence, and financial analysis. It manages one of the world’s largest verified B2B company databases, covering over 400 million organizations worldwide.

Worldbox’s traditional model relied on API-based access, subscription agreements, and long-standing customer relationships, with growth largely driven through word-of-mouth. While effective, this approach introduced friction: onboarding was manual and could take several days, access to data was request-driven, and scaling into new markets or customer segments remained limited.

At the same time, the rapid rise of generative AI was fundamentally changing user expectations. Business users were becoming accustomed to instant, self-service access to information, putting increasing pressure on traditional data providers. Worldbox recognized the need to evolve its operating model — not only to reach new markets, but also to enable AI-native data consumption while protecting and monetizing its high-value dataset.

AllCloud partnered closely with Worldbox as both a strategic and technical advisor to design a new, AI-native distribution model. Rather than replacing the existing system, the approach built on Worldbox’s API foundation and introduced a new interaction layer tailored for AI-driven consumption.

At the core of this architecture is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which acts as a secure bridge between AI agents and Worldbox’s data platform. This allows AI agents to intelligently search, evaluate, and retrieve relevant data within enterprise workflows, while ensuring that all interactions remain controlled, authenticated, and aligned with governance requirements.

To support this new model, Worldbox introduced a two-tier offering: a freemium discovery layer that allows customers to explore and validate data availability, and a paid access tier enabling precise, consumption-based purchasing. This approach fundamentally changes how data is accessed — shifting from bulk delivery to targeted, on-demand usage.

Built on AWS using services such as AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon Cognito, and Amazon DynamoDB, the solution provides a secure, serverless, and highly scalable architecture. Delivered via AWS Marketplace, it also establishes a fully automated global sales and distribution channel.

With the launch of its AI-enabled distribution channel on AWS Marketplace in August 2025, Worldbox fundamentally transformed how its data is discovered, accessed, and monetized. Customers can now access and integrate data significantly faster, with onboarding and API provisioning fully automated, reducing integration time by up to 80–90% and accelerating time to value by as much as 70%.

At the same time, the visibility of Worldbox’s data products has increased dramatically, with discoverability improving by a factor of 5 to 10. Internally, the automation of onboarding and delivery processes has led to productivity gains of 50–70% for the service team.

Beyond these operational improvements, the new model establishes a scalable and future-ready revenue stream aligned with AI-driven demand. Building on this foundation, Worldbox is now exploring further innovation, including multi-agent AI workflows and advanced automation using services such as Amazon Bedrock and AWS Step Functions.
